XP Context Menu Items: Cmd Prompt + Find Target
I found this little gem over at gseller's blog and it's pretty useful. It allows you to simply right click in any explorer window and open a command prompt there.
- Open up windows explorer
- Tools -> Folder Options.
- File Types Tab
- Select the
Folderfile type - Click Advanced
- Click New
- For the "
Action"type what ever you want the context menu to display, I used"Command Prompt." - For the
"Application used to perform the action"use"c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe" (note on win2k you will want to specify the winnt directory instead of the windows directory)
( Mirror if you don't want to sign up for their site)
This adds "Find Target" just below "open" in the context menu whenever you click on a shortcut in windows XP.
It's one of the staples that I always get whenever I reinstall windows.
Here's a very simple way to install it.
- Download the file and unzip it to your C drive.
- Go to Start->Run , and type: regsvr32 C:\FT.dll
- Done! Rick click on a shortcut, and try it out!
