Investigative Reporting Gone Awry
Brief summary:
Monsanto gets everyone to think their bovine growth hormone is safe; It's not.
Reporters from fox news find out, and decide to report on it.
Fox news threatens them not to continue, then bribes them not to. They did this out of the fear of losing ad revenue, and getting sued.
In the end, a super edited version of the story (83 edits/reviews, one after the other) was made, but it never made it to air. Afterward the reporters were promptly fired.
They tried to sue Fox based on whistleblower laws ( laws that protect people trying to keep others from breaking the law ) but the court found that Fox didn't break the law at all, they just wanted to lie to people and say that a growth hormone that had been directly linked to cancer wasn't all that dangerous.
Well, I give a bow to those two reporters, and a good middle finger to Fox news, and to Monsanto.
